At Capital Surrogacy, we are passionate about helping intended parents navigate their independent surrogacy journeys with thoughtfulness, expertise, and personalized care. With our independent journey support services, we will partner along with the intended parents and surrogate in achieving a positive outcome for all.

An independent journey is a surrogacy relationship in which the intended parents have found their surrogates without the assistance of an agency. The intended parents manage the surrogacy journey on their own – often with the support of attorneys, medical professionals and mental health experts. In these relationships, the intended parents dedicate extensive time and energy to not only finding the surrogate but also to navigating and leading the surrogacy journey.
At Capital Surrogacy, we provide independent journey support for those intended parents that have already found their potential surrogate but desire hands-on guidance throughout the journey. We understand that the relationship between each surrogate and intended parent match is unique and extremely precious. Our independent journey support services will provide expert guidance from start to finish in the surrogacy process, foster a positive collaboration between all parties in the journey, and most importantly, optimize the chances of a healthy and successful pregnancy and delivery.
The independent journey support includes the following services at each stage of the surrogacy journey.
We will screen your surrogate candidate according to our expert agency screening process – as we do with our surrogates at Capital Surrogacy. Most clinics require the surrogate candidate to have a psychological evaluation and background check as part of the clinic screening.
We will not only initiate these services, but we will also facilitate an insurance review to check if the surrogate has surrogacy friendly insurance and recommend health insurance alternatives if needed.
Also, Capital Surrogacy will complete a home study, either in-person or by video call, to check for safety in the home environment.
Each clinic has specific medical requirements for the surrogates they accept. We can gather the surrogate’s medical records, advise on certain complications that are likely to disqualify her at specific clinics, and then send records to your chosen clinic to achieve medical pre-clearance.
During the embryo transfer cycles, Capital Surrogacy will be the point of contact with the third party reproduction team at the clinic. We support the surrogate during the process by ensuring that she fulfills the necessary requirements, locating additional medical resources if needed, and making travel arrangements for clinic appointments.
Once the clinic provides medical clearance, we then refer the intended parents to Nicole White of Kinsey Law Group, P.C. who is our legal professional partner, to represent the intended parents in the surrogacy agreement. We will also suggest legal representation options for the surrogate in the agreement and for the crucial parentage orders.
These steps take a significant amount of time and effort, but the process can be quicker and smoother with Capital Surrogacy’s assistance!
During these months, Capital Surrogacy will follow up with the surrogate after each OBGYN appointment and provide additional resources if needed. We will also monitor all bill payments made through your escrow provider during the pregnancy. Ultimately, we follow up with all professionals involved in the journey to ensure nothing important is overlooked.
As delivery approaches, we will draft a birth plan which is a roadmap for all aspects of the delivery, connect with the hospital staff to prepare for the birth and make sure that the parentage orders are in place. Ultimately, we make sure that the intended parents have logistical and emotional support during this time in the surrogacy process.
Surrogacy is a wonderful and life-changing experience, but it is also complex and sometimes even overwhelming. This can be especially true of independent surrogacy journeys.
